Description

A photo composite of two exposures. From the photographer: “It was a scene like out of Thousand and One Nights: In the morning of August 12, 2022 we saw the full moon in the southwest over the world heritage city Stralsund with its three large churches Sankt Marien, Sankt Jacobi and Sankt Nicolai (from left to right). The exact full moon time occurred 70 minutes earlier, at 3:36 CEST. In addition, the moon was still near the earth and appeared about 12% larger than at its mean distance. The image is an HDR of two exposures, one short exposure for the moon and one longer exposure for the foreground. The August full moon is called the harvest moon in German because the grain harvest is brought in this month. The Algonkin, North American natives, called this moon the Sturgeon Moon after the fish genus Sturgeon.”

Technical details: HDR, two exposures | 200 mm | f/6.3 | ISO 400 | 0.8 sec (foreground) | 4:46 CEST
