From the photographer: “My initial plan of capturing the Strawberry Moon (June’s Full Moon) was via timelapse from the Areopagus Hill; rising behind the Acropolis. I arrived at the location quite early and started the timelapse on time. Very soon, I realized that it won’t come out as I was thinking due to the difference in altitude between the two hills, and that was confirmed when I saw the bright light of the moon; that meant that I was in a quite low light conditions and I won’t be able to have a proper exposure between the moon and the foreground.

Without having second thoughts, I immediately quit the 1.5 hour timelapse and focused on a single frame mindset. Luckily, between a crowd of people, the moon was rising just at the back of a couple that went there to see the view. It was probably the best foreground I could ever ask for. Using a 210mm focal length, I was able to isolate them from the crowd and capture this image; probably the best way of expressing the mood and the emotions of this moment.”
