Description

The moon is setting behind the historic riverfront houses of Cologne on the bank of Rhine. With about a million inhabitants Cologne is Germany’s fourth biggest city and even in a clear night just a few stars can be seen. In order to obtain the photo Bernd Proeschold used an astronomical modified camera and a strong light pollution filter, blocking most of the light of the street lamps. The resulting image is showing roughly as many stars as can be seen in a dark landscape with naked eye.
