Description

The northern stars from Polaris on the left to Cassiopeia and Perseus are photographed over the Temple of Zeus in the roman ruins of Aizanoi; an important ancient city in western Anatolia, now in the small town of Çavdarhisar. Click on the second photo to see another nightscape view of the temple. From the photographer: “The monument is one of best-preserved ancient era temples. It stood mostly intact until the 20th century when it was damaged during 1970 Gediz Earthquake (M 7.2) and restored immediately afterwards… The floodlights on the temple are a major problem for nightscape photography although the sky is fairly dark in this small town.”
