A young observer is awed by spectacular beauty of the Milky Way. As the photographer (an author, astronomy educator and dark sky activist) notes “I took this unique 35mm film photo during the Stellafane convention in Vermont, USA. Although this image may appear as a Photoshop mosaic, it is actually a single exposure using 2 different focus settings during a long exposure.

By using 2 tall ladders, a large black cloth, two filtered flashlights, a barndoor camera mount and timer, I was able to capture this portrait of my nephew gazing upon the summer Milky Way on film. Bob Crelin
