From the photographer: “YongDing Gate is an ancient monument located in the south of old Beijing city. It was built in 1553 B.C. One of the characteristics of ancient Chinese architecture is the building facing south with the back to the north. So Polaris is right above the gate.

Technical details: a photo-composite of 189 pics each 10sec with Canon 6D, sigma20mm f1.4 at f2.5 and ISO100″
