Description

From the photographer: “The rotation of the Earth causes stars to appear to move from east to west in the sky. In this time exposure, the motion of the stars forms trails in the image. The photo was taken looking to the east. Along the ridge are the Subaru telescope, twin Keck telescopes, NASA Infrared Telescope Facility, Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope, Gemini Northern 8-meter telescopes, University of Hawaii 2.2-meter telescope, United Kingdom Infrared Telescope, and University of Hawaii 0.6-meter telescope. In the valley below them are the Submillimeter Array, James Clerk Maxwell Telescope, and Caltech Submillimeter Observatory.”
