Description

Time-exposure startrail image of rotating sky around Mount Huangshan, in the Anhui province of China. Known as the “loveliest mountain of China”, Huangshan is a frequent subject of traditional Chinese paintings and literature, as well as modern photography. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and one of China’s major tourist destinations. From the photographer: “The area is known for the natural scenery including oddly-shaped pines, rocks, and mystical seas of cloud. The Flying-Over Rock (pictured here) is so-named because its shape resembles a rock having just fallen from the sky. The giant rock is 12 meters high, 8 meters wide with a weight of 360 tons and surprisingly is set upright on a flat rock.” © Jeff Dai
