Southern Nightscape

From the photographer: “A view of the southern circumpolar sky taken from a remote area near Noojee, a small timber logging town nestled in the foothills of the Great Dividing Range. The image is centered on the south celestial pole and captures a near-vertical galactic plane, the Large and Small Magellanic Clouds and further west a meteor, possibly from the Antihelion source. The light above the southern horizon is a mixture of light pollution from the Latrobe Valley and a green glow, the latter revealing itself on a timelapse sequence as moving ripples of airglow.”
