Description

From the photographer: “I was lucky enough to be on my last day trip to this southern region today.

The image shows Southern Lights from the outskirts of El Chaltén, Santa Cruz, Argentina, product of the strong geomagnetic storm that hit earth a couple of hours ago. Looking closer, you can even find an aurora pillar.

What you see is the Patagonian Steppe and the typical clouds that form when the strong winds of the Pacific hits the Andes mountain range (pictured to the right), lit by the crescent moonlight.”
