The Small Magellanic Cloud photographed from the equator in the Samburu National Reserve in Kenya. In the foreground of this telephoto view is an acacia tree. The dwarf satellite galaxy is one of the Milky Way’s satellite about 210,000 light-years away. To its right is the globular star cluster 47 Tucanae, a jewel of the southern sky, that contains millions of stars and located in the Milky Way halo at distance of 13,000 light years.
