Description

From the photographer: “The waxing moon shines over a small circular lake (Lake Hertha) in the forests of Jasmund, (island of Rügen, north-east Germany) bringing the fresh green of the trees to life on this clear May evening. Around 2 a.m., the aurora intensity surprisingly increased and the northern sky turned pink. Calm winds made for a wonderful reflection in the lake. In earlier times, people may have thought it was a distant fire because the cause of the colored glow was unknown.”
