Description

A Perseid meteor streaks the sky above Teide Observatory of Tenerife, Canary Islands. In this several minutes long exposure image stars trail around the north celestial pole near to the location of Polaris or the North Star in our sky. The large towers are GREGOR (center) and VTT (right) solar observatories. GREGOR (with the red illuminated dome) is a new type of a solar telescope with an aperture of 1.5m and VTT is another major solar instrument with the primary mirror of 70cm in diameter.

Actually, the red illuminated dome is GREGOR and VTT is in the background at right.
