Description

This all-sky view from Mount Uludag, overlooking valleys of small towns and villages near Bursa, Turkey, has captured the Milky Way, the setting summer stars (right), and the rising winter stars over the east (left). Planet Jupiter is the brightest object in this view high in the sky. A very faint pale blue band of zodiacal light light can be tracked from the southwest to the east, passing through Jupiter, and fading in the Milky Way. The faint green glow of light over the south is airglow, a natural emission of the upper atmosphere, visible only in the dark skies.
