Description

As the evening twilight arrives in north west France the north star, Polaris, and the Little Dipper (an asterism in constellation Ursa Minor) appears above the World Heritage Saint Michel Mount in the Atlantic coastline. It is a rocky tidal island at the mouth of the Couesnon River near Avranches. The construction of Saint Michel monastery started in early 8th century. As noted by the photographer “The illuminating projectors of the monument are so strong that the sky gets heavily light polluted (look the bright clouds illuminating passing just above the top of the village). But with the twilight the contrast between the mountain and the sky was not too strong, specially since I manually exposed different exposure times to create an HDR image to reduce the luminosity of the mountain.”
