Description

As seen on National Geographic News our home galaxy, the Milky Way, stands above African Sahara, in the remote Tassili National Park in the southern Algeria near Niger border. Notable on the left, is bright planet Jupiter. Tassili National Park is a World Heritage Site in the heart of Sahara desert. Prehistoric skygazers surely witnessed a similar sky. In addition to dramatic sandstone formations, the Tassili region is noted for rock paintings and archaeological sites dating to neolithic times.

Just read your interview in Discover Magazine – nice photos – good luck with everything. I will try to get a telescope or get access to one.

Thank you and glad to know you have enjoyed the photos. Besides telescopes I also enjoys observing and learning the night sky with unaided eyes.

Stunning shot…really amazing…just wondering how did you do it? I am only guessing that you might put remote flash gun firing at different spots right next to foreground area?

Thanks Robert. Yes you are right! It was a minute exposure and I went a little away from the camera with flash in hand and fired it at low angle.
