Description

In the Araucania region (southern part of Chile) is this special place at the very feet of the Villarrica volcano, but called by Mapuche people, Rukapillan, that means “The house of the pillan”, a Pillan that was the elder spirit of his pantheon (pillan = spirit of the living and spirit of the dead). This is a chilean stratovolcano of 2860 meters, located in the southern Andes (between the Araucania and Los Rios regions), and its the most active volcano in Chile.

At this exactly place, the erupting volcano gets perfectly aligned with the celestial southern pole, having around the magellanic clouds, the southern cross, and eta carinae, and its watched by a chemamull, which is a sacred wooden statue, used by mapuches in funeral rites.
