Description

Illuminated by moonlight, a remote desert road in Western Australia stretches towards the horizon and the South Celestial Pole. This unique point in the sky appears as the “central point” in the center of the photograph, about which all of the stars appear to rotate around each night. The Celestial Pole is located exactly true south. In this photograph, the road stretches to the horizon and is also aligned perfectly true south, thereby pointing its way towards the Celestial Pole. The movement of the stars follow concentric arcs in this four hour photographic exposure.
