Rare Moment in Pico Ruivo

From the photographer: “A rare moment at Pico Ruivo, when a northern aurora appears on the left. The orange and green tones may have been caused by sodium and oxygen atoms, slightly at a higher altitude. The image also shows a part of the Milky Way, the dark nebula and just above the planet Jupiter. Pico Ruivo on Madeira Island in Portugal is a very risky place (1861m altitude) and has to be made a 1 hour walk to reach this place.”
