Rainbow in the Night Sky of an Old Caravanserai
Description
From the photographer: “In some nights, like this image, lights (green and pink at the bottom of the galaxy) can be seen in the night sky. These lights are called airglow. Airglow occurs when the strong rays of the sun that reach the earth’s atmosphere cause reactions in gases, especially oxygen and nitrogen. These radiations cause reactions that turn neutral atoms and molecules into ions. When these ionized atoms and molecules come together again, light is produced, the color of which is based on the type of gas molecule.”
