Description

A crystal-clear moonlit night of winter above The Pic du Midi mountain in the French Pyrenees. At altitude of 2877 m the mountain is famous for its astronomical observatory which its construction started over a century ago. The observatory is located at 42°56′N, 0°8′E, placing it very close to the Greenwich meridian. There are several telescopes on Pic du Midi and the 2 meter Bernard Lyot Telescope is the largest.
