Patagonia Meteor

A clear night in Patagonia brings stunning starry sky above the famous “Cuernos” (horns) mountains and Pehoé lake in the World Heritage Torres del Paine National Park. The photographer was lucky enough to capture a fireball (very bright meteor) above the mountains and right below Sirius, the brightest star of the entire night sky. The Cordillera del Paine is a small but spectacular mountain group in Chilean Patagonia with spectacular summits known as the Three Towers of Paine. They are gigantic granite monoliths shaped by the forces of glacial ice. This meteor photo is a part of a time-lapse video showing sky motion above this Patagonian scenery.
