Omega Centauri
Description
In a single-exposure telephoto image, Omega Centauri, a globular cluster of several million stars and the largest of its own in our galaxy soars above a dark forest in Turkey. At the 40-degree north the cluster rises only a bit above the southern horizon. The other observing gem of Centaurus constellation, the active galaxy Centaurus A (NGC 5128) is visible with a prominent dark dust band near the image’s top, about 4 degrees north Omega Cen.

May 16, 2012 at 1:31 amThanks. I used a Hutech modified Canon EOS 5D Mk.1 camera at ISO 1600 and a Canon 200 mm f/1.8 lens piggybacked on a Meade 8″ LX10 SCT. The exposure was for 20 seconds.
