Oldest Bridge in Europe

From the photographer: “The oldest bridge in use in Europe (150 BC) is the stone arch bridge of the Hellenistic period, which is just two kilometers outside the village Xirokambi Laconia. It relies on a semicircular arch with a diameter of 4-m surrounding the crystal clear waters of the Erasinos torrent. Above the bridge is the passing of the ancient road connecting the town of Sparta in the Roman era, with its port Kardamili by the Royal Road. The bridge is currently only used by hikers as the entrance to the gorge and the nature Anakolou.”
