Old Time Radio Telescope

The crescent Moon shines above Dwingeloo Radio Observatory near Dwingeloo in the northeastern Netherlands. The single dish radio telescope with a diameter of 25 m was completed in 1956 as one of the earliest radio telescopes at this size. It is no longer in professional operation since 2000 and it is now a national Dutch industrial heritage monument. However the CAMRAS radio astronomy foundation aspires to restore the telescope. Two companion galaxies of the Milky Way are named after this telescope: Dwingeloo 1 and Dwingeloo 2.
