Old Prairie Grain Elevator

From the photographer: “Grain elevators were once a common site in Western Canada, but are now hard to find since they are not part of modern grain farming practice. This abandoned grain elevator was built in 1923 on a direct rail-line that ran from Tofield to Calgay, but the train stopped coming in 1962. Sitting idle for more than 50 years, the wood frame of this structure has surprisingly managed to stay standing over the intervening years. This elevator was part of the now vanished town of Bardo, built by Norwegians from Bardo, Norway in the early 1900s.”
