From the photographer: “I took the photo in the early hours of August 19, 2009 from Isola d’ Elba (an island in Tuscany Italian region). The early wake up was well rewarded as the sight of the 2% waning crescent Moon was breathtaking! The age of our natural satellite was just one day before “new moon” and just one hour before Perigee”
