Description

In this nightscape view from La Palma, Canary Islands, the moon is captured moments before it sets (right), and the Milky Way shines beyond the passing clouds which are illuminated by light of the moon and the downhill towns at the coast. Clouds are formed in the Caldera de la Taburiente, a 10-km wide crater (with walls tower 2000m over the caldera floor) which dominates the northern part of the island. The caldera originated some 2 million years ago with a massive shield volcano. Click on the second photo to see this scene few minutes earlier.
