Description

From the photographer: “The sky had cleared up a few hours prior, and with a moonless night ahead, I decided to head out and capture the night sky. Whatipu beach is the site of a huge wetland area, with many cabbage trees (ti kouka) creating beautiful silhouettes on the horizon. Above the trees you can see the southern milky way, crux, the pointers, carina nebula, large Magellanic cloud, and Canopus. My personal favorite part of the night sky. This image was taken on a spontaneous trip to Whatipu beach, New Zealand. Move the slider on image to show/hide constellation lines and labels.”
