Description

A clear moonlight night at Gorak Shep in Nepal, along the main route to Everest Base Camp, following what the Dalai Lama dubbed “the steps to heaven”. Gorak Shep is a frozen lakebed covered with sand that sits at 5164 meters altitude. As noted by the photographer “the impressive range of Pumori (7165 m altitude) is illuminated by the moonlight. The atmosphere was absolutely clear. Above the mountains the constellations of Ursa Minor with Polaris and Cassiopeia were visible”.
