Description

From the photographer: “It is time for the lunar eclipse, one of the most fascinating spectacles in the cosmos. An event eagerly awaited, especially because it would also be visible in Sicily just after sunset. A magical occasion, in which twilight offers rich and delicate colour shades, adding an extra touch of enchantment to the event. It is for this reason that I have decided to offer you a wide shot, allowing you to immerse yourselves, together with me, in the silence of the Sicilian countryside, dominated by Mount Etna and steeped in history. The hills are brown, embellished here and there with golden reflections of what remains of the wheat ears. On one of these hills stands the village of Giuliano, almost completely abandoned, with its small leaning bell tower, a fragile guardian of time that seems close to collapse. Surrounded by cypress trees and touched by the few lights of cars travelling along the winding road, the village stands between heaven and earth, discreetly touching the gentle slope of the volcano. At the foot of the scene, a flock of sheep gathers, waiting for nightfall. And, in this suspended silence, the red moon shines like a solitary eye in the sky, accompanied only by light clouds pushed by a gentle wind blowing over Mount Etna.”
