Moon Dance

Looking eastward down the aurora wall, the aurora light competes with the nearly full Moon, shining through a thin layer of cloud, softening the light of the evening. The moonlight, reflecting off the newly frozen Chena Lake, near the city of North Pole, Alaska, was enough to light the scene that night. As described by the photographer “There was not yet snow on the ice, and the ice had the surface texture of an orange peel, a smooth pebbled surface. And just before I took this shot, and small red fox had just trotted across the frozen lake”.
