Milky Way near Kabul

Editor’s comments: The author of this photo, Yunos Bakhshi, is a photographer living in Afghanistan. He is also the leading member of the recently-formed Afghanistan Astronomy Association. Either the pursuit of astronomy or TWAN-style photography can be a very dangerous endeavor in this war-torn country. The fact that Yunos Bakhshi was able to capture this seemingly peaceful Earthy image with the Milky Way is truly remarkable, especially given the difficult circumstances at the time the photo was taken.
