Midnight All Sky Clock
Description
In this all-sky view (fulldome) from the Roque de Los Muchachos observatory (La Palma, Canary Islands), a thick crescent Moon is rising in the east while William Herschel Telescope’s adaptive optics laser is pointed very close to the zenith. From the photographer: “The green laser is giving a 2-minutes-to-midnight reading in the all-sky clock. This laser angle would have worked much better for a new-year picture if Sirius and Canopus were on the meridian, but you cannot have everything!”
