Description

The night sky appear in a dark night of Maasai Mara in southwest Kenya, a large national reserve next to Serengeti in Tanzania. Jupiter is the brightest object at top. Followed in brightness by Sirius (the brightest star of the night sky) in the middle and Canopus lower toward the south. The Large Magellanic Cloud appear below Canopus. Move the slider on the image to see the labels and figures. From the photographer: “The weather for most of that night was cloudy and rainy. I woke up at 3 am and in a clear window between fast moving clouds made this 18-picture mosaic before it became overcast again.”
