Description

The Large Binocular Telescope (LBT) on Mt. Graham in Arizona. The fisheye view has captured the telescope in action during research astronomical observation. Rotation of the telescope and its enclosure caused stars (and the terrestrial lights) to trail during exposure. The giant observatory combines two side-by-side 8-meter telescopes, make it one of the world’s largest telescopes. In resolution the two mirrors are equal to a single 23-meter mirror. Click on the second photo to see a closeup view of stars reflecting from one of the mirrors.
