Jupiter and Sea Sparkle
Description
From the photographer: “As I was invited by a friend of mine to Oman, I was looking for possibilities to take photos at night. We spent a beautiful night at the coast of Gulf of Oman near Sur. During eating our supper, we observed bluish-greenish lights as the waves were lapping below the cliffs. The bioluminescence light was produced by sea sparkles (Noctiluca scintillans). I have never seen this phenomenon before, but I have read about it a lot. So the sight was mystic, unearthly, while the Jupiter was rising in the background with light pollution of a nearby industrial area.”
