Jupiter and Pleiades Above Vendicari
Description
From the photographer: “The Vendicari reserve offers many points of cultural and naturalistic interest. Among these there is certainly the area in front of the Swabian tower where, in addition to a necropolis, there are sumps of Hellenistic origin built for fish processing. We know that the Romans, in later times, produced, from the processing and fermentation of poor fish and its innards, a sauce that was used as a condiment and which took the name of Garum. In this image it is possible to observe the beginning of the astronomical dawn with the planet Jupiter which, now high in the sky, is reflected on one of these rectangular pools. The celestial image is completed by the presence of the Pleiades who reappear in the sky and will keep us company throughout the next autumn and winter period. And did you know this peculiarity of Vendicari?”
