Description

As seen on Astronomy Picture of the Day the International Space Station (ISS) and Space Shuttle Discovery trail over the Lake of Bakonybel in Hungary. The bright trail near the western horizon in this evening twilight view is planet Jupiter. The image is made during STS-133 mission and a day after shuttle left the station and it’s the reason the two objcects had still parallel trails and very similar orbits. The digital image is made of several multi-second exposures one after the other with only a second between each shot, which caused the gaps in the trail of the moving ISS-Shuttle pair.
