Description

In a winter evening on slopes of Mt Uludag in Turkey, five planets are captured across the sky, two of them (Venus & Mercury) in a close conjunction at the western horizon. Move the slider on the image to see the labels. Planets Uranus and Neptune are too faint to find without a guide. On the upper left is another surprise. Comet Lovejoy C/2014 Q2 appears near the Pleiades star cluster. Similar to this picture, to unaided eyes the comet was a little fuzzy star with a hint of a tail.
