Description

The Great Comet Hyakutake over the western horizon of early evening sky in the same view with the Pleiades (left) and California Nebula (red-pink patch left and above the comet). In late April of 1996, Hyakutake was rapidly approaching the sun and its ion tail had grown large. As noted by the photographer “This crystal clear night on the Kansas prairie was the last time we saw it!”.
