Extreme Airglow

From the photographer: “No, this is not light pollution nor clouds in the night sky. Here is one of the most unusual images of atmospheric airglow I ever obtained in high Chilean Andes (airglow is natural emission from the Earth upper atmosphere). During that very night I noticed extremely smooth red gradient on the sky, but suddenly it started to transform into some funny shapes!”
