Description

A photo composite of multiple exposures. From the photographer: “In the startrail I took during the last paroxysm of Mt. Etna (10 February 2022), everything is in motion! In the landscape, everything seems to move: the lava of Etna flowing on the flanks of the volcano, the wind turbines pushed by a light wind in the lower right corner and the cars that their movement leave the trails of light on the photographic sensor. In the sky, on the other hand, a movement we do not notice but much more significant and fascinating. The motion that our earth makes every day and the stars that apparently seem to move in the sky in a concentric way around the Polar star. This image is my humble contribution to one of the greatest scientists in history, whose birth anniversary is February 15th. Galileo, by introducing the experimental method, laid the foundations of modern science and it is also thanks to his enormous contribution that today we are able to touch the stars.”

Technical details: Nikon D800 + Tamron 100-400 f / 4.5-6.3 @ 100mm, f / 5, ISO-800, 13 sec (100 shots). The images were processed in Lightroom and StarStax for the creation of the startrail.
