Description

In May 2020, we had clear skies, when Venus was wrapping up its evening visibility and Mercury was leapfrogging into the evening twilight sky. The evening of 24th May 2020 saw a thin crescent Moon with earthshine joining the two inner planets. I photographed them from the rooftop of our apartment building, as travel opportunities had been severely curtailed because of curfews and restrictions due to coronavirus. In the foreground is Bursaspor Stadium, informally known as Timsah (Crocodile) Arena because of its shape.

In this detailed look into the Moon, Mercury and Venus, the crescent of Venus was looking really nice as it drifted behind the bands of thin clouds. The alternate version of this picture has an inset showing the crescent of Venus in full resolution, which had just 7 days until inferior conjunction.
