Eclipse and Sandstorm
Description
The total solar eclipse of 2013 November 3 as seen from the shores of Lake Turkana in northern Kenya. The short totality shaded the wild nature in darkness for 14 seconds. A sudden sand storm only half an hour before the total eclipse challenged all eclipse observers who traveled thousands of kilometers to reach the remote area where the narrow band of the moon shadow crossed Kenya. Here the solar corona is visible through a lucky hole in the clouds. Click on the second photo to see a close-up telephoto view of the eclipsed Sun at this moment.
