Description

From the photographer: “The Dachstein, a mountain massif with its highest peak reaching slightly less than 3000 meters above sea level, forms the center of the UNESCO world heritage region Hallstatt-Dachstein. In this image, the mountain, its glacier, and the lenticular clouds that form over its peaks, are illuminated by the moon. Trails of rising stars can be seen in the background, including the reddish trail of Mira, the famous variable star (upper left). The mountain and the surrounding landscape, as well as some of the brighter stars, are reflected on the surface of the Gosau lake in the foreground.”
