Craters of the Moon

Prominent stars Vega and Altair of the Summer Triangle along with the Milky Way are framed above the Craters of the Moon National Monument and Preserve in Idaho. The park includes major lava fields and steppe grasslands. They lie along the Great Rift of Idaho with some of the best examples of open rift cracks in the world, including the deepest known on Earth at 240 m (800 ft).
