Counting Stars by the Ocean

The arc of the Milky Way, from Cygnus (left) to Scorpius (middle), rises above the shores of the Atlantic Ocean on La Palma, Canary Islands. Planet Saturn is also brightly visible near the center. The bright red spot in the middle right is Mars. On the far right the Ursa Major (Big Bear) marks the north. Click on the second photo to see a closer view of the Milky Way arc over the beach.
