Description

From the photographer: “A myriad of flower spikes emerge and point skyward, from a grove of grass tree`s (Xanthorroea sp.), seemingly greeting the night sky and the southern stars. This 180° view shows the landscape wrapping around due to the extreme wide angle view. Also known by the South West Western Australian Aboriginal name of Balga, grass tree`s are very slow growing plants. Those featured in this image are up to 3 metres tall and may be two hundred years old. Grass trees have several traditional uses by Aboriginal people, including medicine and weapons manufacture. More than twenty different species of grass tree occur in Australia.”
