Description

From the photographer: “After a short evening hike in the mountain, we arrived at the location during the astronomical twilight. The clear sky (from clouds) and the high altitude, were the two key contributing factors that gave us the opportunity to capture the comet in such way. The comet C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan-ATLAS) was naked eye visible from the point we arrived, and I was amazed by the fact that we were able to see clearly the whole length of its tail right away. During my previous attempts, when I tried to capture the comet from the city center of Athens, we were barely seeing its tail (due to the poor air quality at the lower stages of the atmosphere and the extreme light pollution). The light of the gibbous moon was not only filling with light this incredible scenery, but lighting the trail during our way back, making the excursion an even better experience.”
